Tim Burton shot out of the gate in 1985 with Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, beloved by many and the start of Burton’s cult following. To further cement his cult status, he followed up with his sophomore feature in 1988 with Beetlejuice. Full of whimsy, dirt, and the ever present ‘Burton aesthetic’ we have now come to know and love. The 4K release does not come with any new bonus features from previous releases, so only recommended if you are updating your collection.

Sherlock Holmes is a staple in film and television history. Throughout the many adaptations there have been hits and misses. Guy Ritchie’s 2009 and 2011 actioners are most definitely two of the hits. Exploring the physicality of Holmes as a hero and a fighter. Robert Downey Jr. brings the perfect blend of muscle and sophistication. Adding the bonus of stellar co-stars from Jude Law’s dashing Watson, to Jared Harris as the dastardly Moriarty, and Rachel McAdams as the temptress Irene Adler. Both films are fun and action packed. The 4K release is definitely upgrade worthy just to experience the sights and sounds. Hans Zimmer’s score for both films may be worth the price alone.

Tapping into that child-like nostalgia is the reason that The Goonies has had such staying power with physical releases. There may not be anything new added to the bonus features, but if you watched and love this as a kid, upgrading this in your collection is an absolute must.
