Lowery really has no business directing a heist movie, so he shot a feel good period drama about a mans life work. Looking like it was photographed straight from 1981 and we all got treated to a great display of acting from Redford, Spacek, Affleck. This film lacks a bit of grit, but I really think it was going for soft and sweet. I don’t know if this is the one Redford should ride off into the sunset with, but it’s nice enough. I think we can all smile fondly remembering this as his last movie.
Bonus: A Christmas story from Tom Waits.
